• Nothing identifying, if you only read. You can read every article without an account.
• Account data, if you join the community. Signing up stores your email address, a display name and, if you provide one, an avatar. Discussions, comments and likes you post are stored against your account and are publicly visible.
• Technical data. Standard server and security logs, including IP address, browser type and pages requested, used to keep the site available and to detect abuse.
• Advertising and measurement data collected by third parties described below.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in to community features. We also display advertising supplied by Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.

To publish and attribute your community contributions, to keep your account secure, to diagnose faults, to prevent spam and abuse, and to fund the site through advertising. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not send marketing email unless you explicitly ask for it.

Account, discussion and comment data is stored in a managed database hosted by our infrastructure providers, with access restricted by row-level security so that only you can edit your own contributions. Media files are served from our own storage.

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its contributions. Email the address above and we will act within 30 days. Where the GDPR or a comparable law applies to you, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page itself.
